Drone Zones UK

Where you can fly your drone in the UK, and waypoint missions for DJI drones.

Coming soon to Google Play

Drone Zones UK puts the official NATS UAS flight restriction zones (airport FRZs, prisons, military and security sites, restricted and danger areas) and current NOTAMs on a map, and tells you whether a spot is clear, needs care, or needs permission. It also plans waypoint missions for DJI drones, checks the airspace over the whole flight, and sends the mission to your controller.

Check where you can fly

  • Always up to date

Restriction zones update every 28-day AIRAC cycle; NOTAMs at least hourly.

  • Check any spot

Tap the map, search a place or postcode, or use your location.

  • Plan ahead

Any date and time up to six days ahead, with NOTAM daily schedules taken into account.

  • Ground height

For each spot, so zones measured from sea level get a definite answer.

  • Works without signal

Map and satellite views; areas you've viewed still show offline.

  • Nature sites

SSSIs, and ASSIs in Northern Ireland, with links to their official pages.

  • Low-level aviation

Airfields, gliding and parachuting sites, hospital helipads, small arms ranges and other low-level hazards.

  • Flying weather

Wind and gusts (including at 400 ft), rain, visibility and daylight for the spot and time.

  • Saved spots

Keep your regular flying spots to hand.

  • Straight answers

Says plainly when it can't check: outside the UK, or when the data is missing or out of date.

Plan waypoint missions

  • Map an area

Draw the area, or a quick rectangle, for back-and-forth photo lines with the overlap a map or 3D model needs, spaced for your drone's camera and height and allowing for rising ground.

  • Circle a subject

Photos all round a building, tree or structure, the drone facing it and the camera aimed at it, for a 3D model or an orbit video.

  • Custom route

Tap your own waypoints one by one, much like DJI Fly's waypoint mode, and set the height, speed, camera angle, heading and a photo or video action at each.

  • Photo or video

Photos at every waypoint, timed photos, or video.

  • Big areas, split up

Parts of up to 100 waypoints, so the controller stays responsive, each shown on the map in its own colour, with a warning if a part needs more than one battery.

  • Airspace checked

Restriction zones, NOTAMs, nature sites and aviation hazards over the whole mission before you send it.

  • Straight to the controller

By USB cable from your phone to a DJI controller with a screen, no computer needed; or share the mission files.

  • Open other missions

DJI waypoint missions made in other apps: see them on the map, check the airspace, change single waypoints and send them on.

  • Saved missions

    Save missions to fly again.

  • Works with

DJI drones that fly waypoint missions in DJI Fly. Tested with the DJI Mini 5 Pro and DJI RC 2; more are being tested (see the roadmap).

No account, no adverts, no tracking.

Before you fly. Drone Zones UK is a planning aid, not an official briefing, and isn't endorsed by NATS, the CAA or DJI. Check the UK AIP and NATS pre-flight information, follow the Drone Code, and get the landowner's permission. Waypoint missions fly by themselves: keep the drone in sight and be ready to take over.
